159. Chapter 158 Daqin’s New Project
Chapter 158 Daqin’s New Project
After finishing the conversation with Chen Shoutao, Kang Chi didn’t really take it to heart.
Unless he was really bored, maybe he would make it for fun to see if he could earn some proficiency points and relieve the tension of proficiency points…
Early the next morning, just when Kang Chi was about to return to Dongyang and take a vacation, He Yongbin suddenly called him.
”We have basically mastered Wu’an’s technology, and only a few key technologies are still unclear.”
”So fast?”
Kang Chi was also a little surprised by their progress.
Although Daqin Optics can make cameras, the entire camera R&D department has not really mastered the technology inside, just like Kang Chi was able to build a lens production line by copying a gourd at the beginning, but he didn’t know why he had to build it this way.
Therefore, Kang Chi’s main task for He Yongbin and others during this period is to thoroughly understand Wu’an’s technology. After they have understood the technology that they can understand on their own, he will explain the remaining technical difficulties to them. In this way, they will have the ability to draw inferences from one example.
However, this inference may only be a derivative product of the same technical level,
such as mobile phone camera modules, security monitoring, etc.
As for developing more advanced things…
Definitely can’t count on them.
It’s not that Kang Chi doesn’t trust them, but mainly because of the high efficiency and low cost, there is no need for this.
On the other hand, when He Yongbin heard Kang Chi say that he was fast, he was not happy, but a little depressed.
The drawings and products are ready-made, and the company has recruited a large number of R&D personnel to conduct group discussions.
But it took more than a month.
Is it fast?
Does this mean that they are so useless? Of course, He Yongbin also admitted that he was a rookie.
After all, when the manufacturing department had already started making cameras, their R&D department was still figuring out the technical principles…
This weird situation was enough to explain everything.
After temporarily changing the itinerary, Kang Chi soon arrived in Shanghai, and then in the next few days, he taught each technical team one by one to solve their problems.
It took a week for the entire R&D team to fully understand Wu’an’s technology. —— Friday afternoon, Daqin Optical Camera R&D Department, conference room.
He Yongbin and others all sat neatly in the conference room, looking at Kang Chi with full confidence and expectation.
After a week of patient guidance from the great god Kang Chi,
They suddenly felt that they were good again! Especially He Yongbin, who had participated in the seminars of each technical team,
Kang Chi helped him break more cellophane than he had in more than ten years of R&D combined!
He felt like his Ren and Du meridians were opened, and he was reborn from the ashes.
As expected of a man who can make a camera and a photolithography machine at the same time! He Yongbin silently made a deep self-examination in his heart.
He shouldn’t have doubted that the new boss was unreliable before.
Now he is a little scared. This boss is too reliable. He casually took out something that made him feel like a primary school student…
”After this week’s training, everyone has basically mastered the technical principles of Wuan cameras. Next, I will assign a project to you.”
Kang Chi looked at everyone present, and finally set his sights on He Yongbin.
”This project is also your old business, the mobile phone lens module.”
He Yongbin was slightly stunned when he heard this.
Originally, I thought Kang Chi wanted them to develop the second generation of Wuan, or a micro-single camera with a higher end positioning,
I didn’t expect it to be a mobile phone lens.
To be honest, he had some psychological trauma from making mobile phone lenses before… Kang Chi seemed to see the flash of fear on He Yongbin’s face, so he encouraged him: “You have mastered Wu An’s technology. I believe that making a mobile phone lens is not a problem at all. It can even be said that this is a dimensionality reduction attack!” He Yongbin suddenly woke up. Yes, he already knows the camera technology. It’s not a piece of cake to make a mobile phone lens. However, the main difficulty in making mobile phone lenses has never been a problem of high-end technology, but a problem of coordinating cost and performance.A camera can be sold for thousands or even tens of thousands,
But a mobile phone only sells for a few hundred to a few thousand yuan, and the lens module inside is usually purchased at a price of tens to hundreds of yuan,
Therefore, the ability to control costs is very high.
He Yongbin was unable to produce high-pixel mobile phone lenses before, mainly due to cost issues. If cost is not considered, 20 million pixels should not be a big problem.
However, this problem has been basically solved by Kangchi after it opened up the chip industry chain and had its own wafer factory.
Without giving everyone too much time to think, Kang Chi continued: “I have several requirements for our first mobile phone lens.”
”First, we don’t make any secondary cameras. If we want to make one, we will directly make a camera module with three lenses.”
”Second, the pixels of the main and secondary cameras don’t need to be too high. It’s enough to control it within 10-15 million, but the bottom and aperture must be large, and the area utilization rate of CMOS must be above 90%.”
”Third, there must be a physical anti-shake system.”
After listening to Kang Chi’s three requirements, everyone present began to fall into deep thought.
The three-camera module is in line with Kang Chi’s style.
The third requirement is quite normal, but the second one is a bit surprising. Although as industry insiders, they also know that the image quality of a camera cannot be judged by pixels alone, but also by sensor size, single pixel size, aperture, etc.
For example, the camera used by Pingguo before 14 was only 1200w pixel camera, but the shooting quality was not worse than that of Android phones with 400-500 million or even 100 million pixels.
However, when almost all mobile phone manufacturers are keen to purchase high-pixel camera lenses and use this as the main selling point, Kangchi goes the other way and makes low-pixel lenses.
Aren’t you afraid that you can’t sell it after developing it?
In fact, Kangchi has considered this issue for a long time. Anyway, with his personality, he doesn’t like this practice of piling up pixels, or even using algorithms to forcibly expand pixels when there are not enough physical pixels.
This has no benefits except that users get a huge photo with little improvement in image quality.
In fact, for CMOS, the more pixels the better. For example, the Sony Xperia PRO-I, which costs more than 6,000 yuan and is known as a micro-single phone, uses a sensor called Exmor RS in its camera. It has only 12 million pixels, but it is one of the top mobile phone cameras, and its shooting effect is even comparable to that of a compact camera. So whether CMOS is good or not mainly depends on the size of the sensor. The larger the size, the stronger the photosensitivity, and the better the imaging effect. In terms of a single pixel, the larger the size, the stronger the photosensitivity, and the better the imaging quality. This is why many people say that CMOS does not require process. In fact, it is only the analog circuit that converts light into digital signals that does not require process.
Under the analog circuit, there is usually a digital circuit, which is responsible for processing the signal from the analog circuit, and it is very process-intensive. If the process is too old and the signal processing speed is too slow, the picture may even freeze. On the contrary, it can reduce power consumption and heat, and improve the processing speed, frame rate, bit rate, etc. of photos and videos.
Therefore, to make a CMOS, two lithography machines with different processes are usually required. First, use the advanced process to brush the digital circuit, and then use the large process to brush a layer of analog circuit.
This structure can be simply understood as a house. People standing on the rooftop are responsible for receiving light signals, and people downstairs are responsible for recording and sorting data. If there are too many people standing on the rooftop (too many pixels), and the number of people downstairs does not keep up, they will not be able to record. It may take ten reports from the top before the bottom completes one record and sorting.
Therefore, Kang Chi’s proposal of a large base, a large aperture, and a CMOS area utilization rate of more than 90% undoubtedly puts forward high requirements and expectations for the CMOS imaging level.
In fact, the pixel size of Sony’s Exmor RS sensor is 2.4 microns. According to the size of 1 inch, it should be able to achieve 21 million pixels, but it only has 12 million pixels, which means that its actual use area is less than 60%, which is a deliberate release of water and toothpaste.
For fear of fighting with their own black card camera!
But Kang Chi is not afraid, he wants toMake a really good high-end mobile phone lens. It doesn’t have to have weird numbers, but the image quality must be good! (End of this chapter)
